The Guardrails® suite license includes a suite of proprietary software applications to support hospitals in designing, implementing and analyzing clinical best practices, and ultimately, improve medication safety and clinical productivity by building a total quality management (TQM) process for intravenous (IV) medication administration at the point of care:

  • The Guardrails® point-of-care software, which is the application that resides in the Alaris® PC point-of-care unit, incorporates the Guardrails® suite application for use at the point of care, allowing caregivers to safely select and program infusions.
  • The Guardrails® editor software is the authoring tool that manages how medications can be programmed on the infusion system by setting limits on the rates, volumes, and doses that are appropriate for a given patient care area.
  • The Guardrails® Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) reporter software, which provide analysis capabilities to measure effectiveness of hospitals' safety practices.
  • The maintenance software supports biomedical engineers or technicians in maintaining, repairing and downloading logs of the Alaris® system.
  • The flash tool software allows for communication between a computer and the Alaris® system via a serial cable. The flash tool software can reside on a PC or laptop and is necessary for updating the main application code.

The Guardrails® suite is an optional upgrade available for the Alaris® SE pump.

The Guardrails® suite license includes a suite of proprietary software upgrades to support hospitals in designing, implementing and analyzing clinical best practices, and ultimately, improve medication safety and clinical productivity by building a total quality management (TQM) process for intravenous (IV) medication administration at the point of care.
